A few years ago, AI was the stuff of sci-fi movies and PowerPoint presentations from consultants looking to get ahead. Not for ordinary people, and definitely not for someone who grew up with cassette tapes and analog TV.<\/p>\n\n
And then something happened.<\/p>\n\n
The tool finally met the ideas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n Most of us in upper middle age have no shortage of ideas. We have years of experience, a lot of opinions on how things should work and probably some projects that never happened because the thresholds were too high. You needed to be able to code, design, have the right contacts or simply have more time than you had.<\/p>\n\n AI changed that calculus quite radically.<\/p>\n\n Suddenly you can implement a crazy idea on a Tuesday night without having to hire someone, learn a new program or ask your kids for help. You write what you want, tweak it a bit, rewrite it, and you’re done. It is not perfect but it is possible, and possible is much better than never.<\/p>\n\n It’s not about the technology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n Anyone who thinks the enthusiasm is about AI per se has missed the point. It’s not the algorithm that’s exciting, it’s what it makes possible. For someone with an idea but without the training of a designer, the patience of a programmer or the time of a twenty-something, AI is less a tool and more a democratization.<\/p>\n\n WrongShirts is a good example. The concept is simple, absurd and very specific. Without AI, it would have been just a funny thought at dinner. With AI, it became a brand with a range, an online shop and more designs on the way.<\/p>\n\n It is not impressive technology. It’s a crazy idea that finally got a tool to match it.<\/p>\n\n The best part is that we don’t have to pretend we understand how it works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n We do not do that.
